Obituary

Barbara Joan Johnson, 82 of Little Falls, NY entered into eternal rest peacefully on June 25th, 2026 at Little Falls Hospital following a brief illness, she was surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on May 29, 1944 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mildred (Stahl) Lemche. She graduated from Little Falls High School class of 1962. She worked briefly before having her first child at Little Falls Hospital in the dietary department. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Wayne Johnson Sr. in 1965 with whom she shared a union for 15 years until his passing in 1980.

Barbara was known for being a kind and caring person, she would want to talk with anyone who was willing for hours. She was nothing short of strong-willed and hearted. Blessed with a talent for cooking she was always baking sweets for her countless family members at gatherings. In her later years at home she loved listening to music and playing card games or puzzle books, always keeping her mind busy. She also enjoyed watching and keeping up with a wide variety of sports on television, including the Baltimore Ravens/Orioles, Washington Capitals and the University of Maryland men’s basketball team.

Barbara is survived by three beloved children, Wayne Johnson, Lisa E. Johnson and fiancé Robert Crannell, and Chad Johnson. She is also survived by her sister Donna Farrar; two brothers Don (Lynn) and John (Kathy) Lemche; her two grandchildren Jessie-Lynn M. Mitchell and Leland Johnson. As well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was predeceased in death by three sisters, Betty Hill, Shirley Wardian and Virginia “Ginny” Gross, her granddaughter Zada Johnson, and her son in law Marc Mitchell. She now rejoins all of them in eternal peace.

In honor of Barbara’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A celebration of life for Barbara will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Simple Cremation CNY, Utica.

A huge thank you to the staff at the Wynn Hospital, Alpine Rehab and Nursing Center and the 3rd floor staff of Little Falls Hospital for their dedicated care, kindness and compassion for Barbara and her family. Their assistance will not be forgotten.
